Waiting to see the first Hummingbird of the season! It should be any day now. The nectar is hanging, the swings are clean and ready, and I am so anxious! I am adding the recipe for making good nectar:
- Step 1: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Step 2: Add 1 cup of white granulated sugar.
- Step 3: Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.
- Step 4: Boil this mixture for 2 minutes to help prevent it from spoiling too rapidly.
- Step 5: Allow to thoroughly cool.
- Step 6: Pour into clean hummingbird feeders.
You can make larger batches. The recipe ratio is always 1 to 4; 1 Cup white granulated sugar to 4 cups clean water. Stir until sugar dissolves. Some urge you to boil the water, then add the sugar. Fill feeders with nectar when cool.
Always clean the feeders every 3-4 days and add fresh nectar. Enjoy!
